York Area
The York Area takes up a lot of small surrounding towns. In addition to York City, you have Dover, Dallastown, Red Lion, Shrewsbury, New Freedom, East Manchester to name a few.
This town has seen a lot of growth during the past few years. With the Harley Davidson being one of the largest employers in the area their comes the expansion of developments. Rt. 83 is just a hop-skip-jump to Maryland/Harrisburg/Lancaster. Any direction on 83 will take you to the bigger cities. York area too is a bedroom community to some. Housing prices are cheaper in this area than the Harrisburg or Maryland area. Folks have elected to drive a little further to save some money. Yes, even with the gas prices going up.
York has a lot of things to do. Not only do you have super shopping you also have Lake Redman where you can go boating. Plenty of golf courses to try that 7 iron.
The number of restaurants is unbelievable. No matter how many there are-they are all full. Some of my favorites are the Olive Garden, Coombs, Red Lobster, Texas Roadhouse. There are plenty more to choose from depending on your tastes. Hotels are close to shopping to make it easy on the family but not the pocketbook!
September features a week long fair that brings people from many states. It is called the York Fair and is held at the Fairgrounds on Market St. Animals, rides, food, vendors and live entertainment nightly that includes top name artists
This town is growing and becoming more diversified. Ethnic restaurants are popping up to entertain any palatte.
If you are looking for small city living with a little more activity, this may be the town for you. Expansion and traffic is everywhere. You just have to determine if the town covers all your family needs.
